WATCH: John Kiely on Gillane red card “he will have learned from it.”

John Kiely chats about Aaron Gillane’s red card and probable suspension plus the possible return of Peter Casey as competition for places heats up. Kiely admitted that the striking offence was a red card but expects the Patrickswell man will learn from it.

“He will have to serve his suspension and that’s it.

“He will have learned from it, he is going to get that kind of attention now he is a marquee forward and he was always going to draw attention in that regard as every corner forward does from a full back line and if you are a decent full back line you are going to be giving that kind of attention.

“That’s just part and parcel of the game. He reacted and he shouldn’t have reacted and that’s it. He learns from that and moves on.”

Regarding the ban Kiely hopes that Gillane’s good disciplinary record will stand to him.

“I’m hoping it’s just a one game suspension, he has a very good disciplinary record, he has never been sent off before so I think that will stand to him.”
