Limerick get their chance to avenge the defeat to Tipperary in the round robin stage of the Munster Championship this Sunday when they face the Premier County in the final of the competition.
After a flat performance against Tipp in Semple Stadium, John Kiely has had ample time to reflect on what went wrong on the day.
“We would have liked to get a better performance out of ourselves the last day, that’s the bottom line. We didn’t get the level of workrate, we weren’t accurate enough”
Limerick came into the game with Tipperary off the back of successive games against Clare and Waterford where losses would have effectively knocked them out of the championship.
For Kiely, that fatigue both physically and mentally was clear in Thurles and as such he allowed the players some rest in the wake of the defeat.
Since then he says the players have reacted positively with a renewed energy in the squad.
“We’ve had two great sessions Friday and Sunday. Really happy with how they went. The boys have worked extremely hard, they came back in fresh after we gave them a couple of days off after the last game.”
