WATCH: John Kiely speaks about impact from the bench and gives an injury update

Ahead of Limerick’s do-or-die clash with Clare in the Gaelic Grounds this Sunday, John Kiely has discussed the recent impact of players off the bench and any injury updates.

Last Sunday in Walsh Park, John Kiely introduced Shane Dowling, Darragh O’Donovan, Barry Murphy and Dave Reidy from the bench with each scoring.

In total, the subs provided 0-8 of Limerick’s tally as the team cruised to victory.

Furthermore, the impact of Paddy O’Loughlin and William O’Donoghue was clear with the pair drafted in for the game to start.

Speaking at the press conference Kiely said,

“With the games coming in quick succession, we’re looking for a freshness. Freshness is really important and you could see it in the two guys (O’Donoghue & O’Loughlin), they brought it.”

When asked about an injury update, Kiely was positive in his assessment.

David Dempsey and Seamus Flanagan both missed the Waterford game but Kiely was hopeful about their availability for the weekend.

“By and large, Barry Murphy was the only one who picked up a knock on Sunday.”

“They’re all great positives for us.”
