WATCH: John Ryan talks about the importance of Thomond Park ahead of Leinster clash

Munster welcome Leinster to Thomond Park in the Guinness Pro 14 this Saturday.

For Munster’s John Ryan it is a chance to battle against fellow Irish props Tadgh Furlong and Andrew Porter

Furlong is Ireland’s undisputed number one starter at tighthead and Porter has been Schmidt’s back up in recent times.

This game gives Ryan the opportunity to stake his claim for a place in the Irish squad with a World Cup year fast approaching.

“Of course I want to put in a huge performance an put my hand up for selection ahead of the six nations and coming into a word cup year that is massive.”

Munster will be seeking revenge for last years heavy loss to Leinster in Thomond Park where they found themselves down by 22 points at the break.

Ryan alluded to the game and is keen to avenge the loss.

“Yeah it is motivating. It was a home game at Thomond Park and we take pride in our home games [but] we left them run riot in the first twenty minutes.”
