WATCH: Josh Adams in Scintillating form in Lions Series opener in Ellis Park

Ellis Park played host to the British & Irish Lions first game in South Africa this past weekend with a strong showing from Warren Gatland’s men against the Sigma Lions.

The touring side put in a fine performance to take the victory 14-56 with standout performer Josh Adams scoring four tries while the youngest player on the tour in Louis Rees-Zammit got himself a debut score from a fantastic chip-and-chase.

Scotland’s Hamish Watson crashed over early on while Owen Farrell was reliable from the boot as he showed why he may be an important figure moving forward in the series with consistent kicking from the tee.

Going in at the break the visitors had a 21-10 lead with some creative play throughout illustrating they can cause problems for any side with the ball in hand.

Finn Russell demonstrated his creative brilliance in patches as his mercurial talent was on full display with a fantastic Kick-pass for Wales star Adam’s second try of the game.

The result finished 56-14 to Gatland’s men which will provide strong encouragement they are moving in the right direction ahead of the test matches.

The Lions will play again this Wednesday against the Sharks and will look to continue what has been a highly impressive start to the tour.
