WATCH: Kiely says Limerick have to “fight for every ball” in Munster Championship

Defending All Ireland Champions Limerick will make their first appearance of the 2019 Munster Championship on week two of the competition with Waterford V Clare and Cork V Tipperary having taken place in the opening weekend.

Speaking at the Munster Championship launch this week, the Galbally native was looking forward to renewing rivalries.

“we are back training for the last week now getting our preparations ready for the 19th of May. It is fast approaching now, less than three weeks away to the block. We are very much looking forward to it. It will be a hugely challenging again but that’s why we are involved.”

Following an excellent league campaign, the players went back to their clubs for a few rounds of their championship. Kiely says the break back to the clubs was a refreshing break for the players.

“The guys went back to their clubs for three weeks which was a great break for everybody to freshen things up. We had a busy spring, a very enjoyable spring but ultimately you can’t maintain that right the way through the year.

“It was great to let everybody back to their clubs and brilliant to see the lads perform so well for their clubs. That was really important to the group that the lads went back and were really competitive with their teams at home. We are just back with the last week, knuckling down and getting on with our preparations.”
