WATCH: Knockainey’s Kieran Madden discusses upcoming Cappamore challenge in PIHC

The 2021 Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship kicks off this weekend.

Newly appointed Knockainey manager Kieran Madden discussed the upcoming championship ahead as he gets his side ready for the first game against Cappamore.

He will look to deliver a victory in his first game in charge and will be hoping the atmosphere around the community and parish will push his side through as he said:

“Daunting task taking over the team, but the lads have made it easy, there’s been great commitment all year, everybodies put their shoulder to the wheel… We’ve had a great summer, sure you can’t beat being back on the pitch… Lots of people around the parish are mad to see hurling back… the buzz is coming… you can feel it getting closer, Limerick winning the All-Ireland was a great boost, Everyone’s on a high”.

Kieran Madden speaking ahead of his sides tie with Cappamore at the Launch of the Lyons of Limerick County Premier IHC

The championship will be tightly contested and there will be no easy game for any of the sides involved. Madden mentioned the fine lines and margins that may define a year that is looked upon as a success and one that is viewed as a failure stating:

“Theres always only a puck of a ball between the teams, we’ve had a couple of cracks at it at this stage… I don’t think there’ll be anything between the teams, it’ll be very competitive and go down to the wires as always, so you’re only hoping that you come out on top after the three games”.

The game will take place on Saturday in Kilteely at 6:45pm.
