Munster won the Uniphar U18 Girls Interprovincial Hockey title over the weekend as they came from behind to beat Ulster in a penalty shootout.
Munster trailed 1-0 to Ulster but with the final play of the game, Crescent College student and Catholic Institute’s Sarah Fitzgerald equalized from a short corner.
Munster went on to defeat their interprovincial rivals 3-2 in a penalty shootout. There were eight Limerisdk students in the squad with six from Catholic Institute, with one each from Limerick and Crescent.
Ruby Walsh and Anna Campbell scored for Munster in the shootout but were matched by Ulster’s Sophie Kidd and Eva Gaston. Beth Anne O’Farrell converted the final penalty shuttle to give the Munster side the victory with Ulster missing their final penalty.

Speaking to Hockey Ireland after the contest, Munster coach Yvonne O’Bryne said,
“To be honest we were very happy and positive with the way we were playing and we had a number of corners we didn’t convert so to put the last one away, I think we felt we deserved at least one.”
