WATCH: Munster breeze past Connacht to set up Pro 14 semi final with Leinster

Munster made light work of Connacht in their final Pro 14 Conference Group game as their 49-12 win guaranteed a semi final place with Leinster.

That last four game will be played in the Aviva behind closed doors next Friday at 7.35pm.

Chris Cloete had Munster’s first try after 8 minutes before a penalty try extended thier lead to 14-0 after JJ Hanrahan converted both.

Connacht were reduced to 14 men shortly after when debutant Abraham Papali’i was sent off for a high tackle on Conor Murray.

Jeremy Loughman dotted down shortly after with JJ making it 21-0.

However, Connacht would have the final say of the half with Bundee Aki crossing the whitewash.

The Westerners almost reduced the deficit further shortly after the restart only to fall short of the line before Munster took complete control with three tries in five minutes.

The first came from Tadhg Beirne who had been in the bin at the rear end of the first half.

The second was finished by Andrew Conway who scored after brilliant interplay from Beirne, Chris Farrell and Damian De Allende.

Conway got his second three minutes later after collecting Hanrahan’s kick.

The gap was 49-7 after 65 minutes with James Cronin getting Munster’s seventh of the game with Hanrahan converting to keep his 100% record intact.

Connacht, who were reduced to 13 did score the final try of the game to make the final score 49-12.

Munster will play table toppers Leinster from Conference 1 who won each of their 15 games.

Speaking after the game, Munster coach, Johann van Graan praised his side for their first half efficiency.
