Munster are without a whole host of their squad who are away preparing for the World Cup but it doesn’t mean that work stops at the province.
The remaining players are being put through their paces ahead of the new club season at the High Performance Centre at the University of Limerick.
The squad are in their first week of the second block of pre-season training and S&C coach, Adam Sheehan, says that things are progressing well.
“The idea (of this block) is that there will be much greater emphasis on the number of pitch training sessions for the players.
“That doesn’t necessarily mean that the overall program stays the same. We will still almost have the same amount of gym sessions, just that the overall program grows now to accommodate rugby development.
“That’s the plan all along. We started with this foundation base and it allows us to climb higher again with this block.”
Sheehan also went on to give an insight into how the Munster Academy has been developing players for this exact scenario in getting them ready for first team action.
