WATCH: Na Piarsaigh reaction as they reach Limerick SHC decider

Na Piarsaigh are into the Limerick Senior Hurling final for the sixth time this decade after an exciting win over Kilmallock in the semi finals yesterday in what was a repeat of last years final. Awaiting them in the final is a Doon side who overcame Patrickswell in the other semi final yesterday.

After the game we caught up with Na Piarsaigh manager Paul Beary to get his thoughts on the game and also an eye towards the final. In his first year in charge, Beary was just pleased to be back in a final as Na Piarsaigh look to retain their title for the first time ever.

“Semi finals are all about getting over the line. Very tight battle as we expected, went down to the wire with Kilmallock as it always seems to do so just delighted and thrilled to be there.”

“(On becoming manager) It was a tough transition on the back of everything that happened in March with the All-Ireland club replay, so I’m just thrilled. The lads have responded superbly and we are holders of the Daly cup. We’re putting up a great defence of it and now we’re into the final.”

As for their opponents, Adrian Breen is in no doubt of the challenge that will face his side in the decider. Doon come into the game as league champions and will be raring to take on a Na Piarsaigh side that defeated them in the last four in 2017. With the likes of Darragh O’Donovan, Barry Murphy, Pat Ryan and team captain Richie English at their disposal Doon will be a huge threat for Na Piarsaigh.

“Doon are going to be a huge challenge in the final. They are league champions this year, they edged us out in that league final. We’re well aware of the youth and talent coming up there so we take them very seriously.”
