WATCH: Reaction as Ballybrown and Patrickswell 1/4 final ends level

Ballybrown and Patrickswell end level after superb 1/4 final tie.

If last year’s county final meeting between the two was a blowout in favour of the blue and gold this year’s 1/4 final at the Gaelic Grounds was an epic battle that will bring both clubs back for another crack at each other.

The final score was Patrickswell 0-18 to parish rival Ballybrown’s tally of 1-15 with Alan O’Connor earning Ballybrown another day out with a point from placed ball as time elapsed. It was a hugely pressurised attempt but O’Connor was up to the task.

It would have been a cruel exit for Ballybrown who led for large periods but Patrickswell finished strongly and Diarmaid Byrnes appeared to have won it for them with a point in the second minute of added time before O’Connor’s last play intervention.

The sides will now have to do it all over again to see who earns the right to face Kilmallock in the semi finals. Man of the Match, Ballybrown’s Mark Griffin gave his post match thoughts to Eir Sport.
