Treaty United manager Dave Rooney is aware of the challenge facing his side on Sunday afternoon when they travel to face Cork City in the Women’s FAI Senior Cup Semi-Final at Bishopstown (2pm).
Treaty made the last four of the competition following victory over DLR Waves in the quarter-final last month but will face Munster rivals who are currently competing in tier 1 of the Women’s National League while Treaty are currently top of tier 2.
The sides have met on one occasion in the league already this season with the Leesiders running out 2-5 winners at Jackman Park.
Rooney was speaking to Sporting Limerick before his side’s final training session before the game at the University of Limerick and believes that while Cork are heavy favorites, his side can cause an upset on the day.
“We are delighted to be in the semi-final but that’s not good enough. We want to get to the final and we want to win it. Cork are without doubt favorites for the game which has its own pressure.
There is no pressure on us. There is nobody expecting us to win anything outside of these group of players. Its 90 minutes, its a cup game and anything can happen on the day.”
Rooney also speaks about last weekend’s crazy 4-5 victory over Bohemians, the development of the both the 17s and senior players this season and much more. To watch the whole video click on the link below.
