Ulster captain Rory Best was chatting with the media in the wake of his side’s 24-24 draw with Munster at Thomond Park. The visitors held a 24-14 lead at the break but were unable to build on that during the second half.
The result ends Ulster’s Pro14 ambitions but they may still have an avenue to the Champions Cup for next season via a playoff in two weeks time. That will depend on other results over the next few weeks.
Best pointed out that they had an opportunity to win the game but ultimately had to go for the try bonus point which never materialised.
“On 80 minutes to get a very kickable penalty at 24 all. On another day you kick that and you come away from Thomond Park – a very tough place to win with a victory. Because of the position we put ourselves in, we had to go to the corner.”
