The Christmas series of interpro games has left Munster fans frustrated as the team have only played well in patches. The upshot of this inconsistency was a first half horror show against Leinster and a second half disaster against Ulster with only one losing bonus point earned across the two games.
Centre Rory Scannell was involved in the loss to Leinster on Stephen’s Day but despite not playing against Ulster, Scannell says team will have learned some harsh lessons in the Kingspan Stadium defeat.
“We had a lot of knocks and the experienced guys, Billy Holland went off early, Niall (Scannell) went off quite early in the second half and James Cronin. We were quite dominant up front but when you lose three guys like that we began to struggle. I think the guys that stayed on the pitch will definitely learn from the experience.
“We’ll look at the video and the moments where we had to opportunities to close out the game but we didn’t take them and we gave them an in and they took it so we won’t be looking to let that happen again”
It is highly likely that we will see Scannell back in the number twelve jersey this weekend with van Graan set to make wholesale changes for the Connacht tie due to his growing injury list plus the fact that Sam Arnold is beginning the start of his three week suspension. Scannell is eager to get back on the pitch and put things right.
“It was a tough two weeks with two losses so you’re itching to get back in there and trying to get a win especially going into Europe as well, over the next three weeks we’ve three big games hopefully I’ll be in the mix”
