Sammy Arnold, like so many others, could only watch in awe last Saturday as Saracens put Munster to the sword for much of their Champions Cup semi-final.
With Rory Scannell and Chris Farrell dominating the centre positions this season, Arnold has had his game time reduced dramatically from last year with the 23-year-old having to watch on from the sidelines for much of the season.
After the Saracens defeat, Arnold says its much tougher being on the bench when the side aren’t winning.
“When the team is winning and the lads are playing well, you have to take the personal ambition out of it to an extent.”
“For me personally, just keep ticking away, getting better every day and see what happens.”
The Saracens game signaled a third consecutive Champions Cup semi-final loss for Munster. They were beaten at the last four of the Guinness Pro 14 last year after losing the final to the Scarlets the year previously.
However, for Arnold and the rest of the squad, confidence is still high with the chance of silverware domestically still within reach.
“I feel like we are in a good place. Obviously, the home semi-final would be an advantage and that’s something we will really try go after this weekend.”
