WATCH: Shane Doherty “we are definitely out to win a third one now”

Adare begin their 2019 Limerick SFC campaign looking for a fourth consecutive county football title. The intermediate success in 2016 was followed up by back-to-back victories in the Senior ranks.

For captain Shane Doherty, the goal is the same as always as the west club look for a third successive title at the senior grade.

“It was brilliant to win two in a row but we are definitely out to win a third one now. I think that’s what you’re aiming to win at the start of every year so hopefully we can keep that going now.”

They open their championship with a clash against Monaleen. These sides met in the semi-finals of the competition last year, with the eventual champions prevailing by a point in Mick Neville Park before going on to retain their title against Ballylanders.

Ahead of the Monaleen clash, Doherty certainly isn’t underestimating the 2016 champions.

“We’re expecting a tough game. We were very lucky to beat them last year in the semi-final. It really could have went either way.

We know they’re going to have a lot of improved players from last year so it’s definitely going to be a tough challenge.”
