Treaty United Manager Tommy Barrett looks ahead to their Division 1 promotion play-off semi-final first leg with UCD on Wednesday night

Limerick’s Treaty United face their first play-off rival this week as they host UCD at the Markets Field on Wednesday. Treaty are seeking justice from their 2-1 loss to UCD just a few short weeks ago at the UCD Bowl.

Yet more recently, Treaty returned to winning ways when they recorded a 2-1 win over Cabinteely in Stradbrook. Manager Tommy Barrett, reflected on his sides significant win against the Dublin outfit.

“It’s always great to win, we hadn’t picked up a point against Cabinteely so it was great to get something… They’re a really good side, probably an underrated side, they’ve a lot of good players and a very strong management team and a really well run club”

Barrett was transparent about his thoughts regarding Treaty’s play-off opponent UCD, outlining the observations made during their analysis ahead of the game.

Yet regardless of the qualities which made UCD so dominant throughout the season, Barrett is confident that his Treaty side will be anything but an easy game for the Dublin students.

“They’ve players all over the pitch that are very very good… Physically they’re very strong as well, they’re not just a pretty team to watch, they’re pretty powerful, they’re good at set pieces.

“We’re a match for any side on our day and we’re certainly going out to win the game.”

Speaking tactics ahead of the play-off clash, Barrett touched on the home advantage Treaty will have with the first leg of the play-off against UCD being played at home in the Markets Field. An early result at home could give Treaty the foundation needed when they head up to the capital for the second leg.

“When you’re at home, you have to go and try to win the game and certainly we will try and win it.

“The team have been excellent at staying in games at times when we’re under pressure and that in itself is a very good skillset to have”
