WATCH – Van Graan gives insight into depth of squad and giving youth a chance

Munster Head Coach Johann van Graan is excited about his side’s opening Guinness PRO14 game about the Cheetahs at Thomond Park this Saturday.

Van Graan may have to give youth its head in the first few games of the season with the unavailability of so many players due to injury and international commitments.

However, the South African believes that the absence of more established players could open the door for some to make a big impact.

Almost half of our squad has not been available. I can’t wait for them to come back and hopefully we can get to our best team pretty soon.

That’s the one lesson i learned from pre-season. You think you have all this time but you actually don’t.

On the younger players in his squad, van Graan said that they will be called upon and that’s why they have stepped up from the academy to the senior set up.
