Watch – van Graan not getting carried away after PRO14 start
For Johann van Graan, last weekend’s game against the Toyata Cheetahs couldn’t have gone much better as he saw a number of players make their debuts in a 38-0, bonus try win.
In his first full season in charge, there is great optimism around the province that the team can finally secure some silverware this year. Yet, van Graan isn’t getting carried away after the opening day performance.
“It’s only the second week of the season so a long way to go, quality opposition awaiting us on Friday evening so you know you start again on zero (points).”
The Scottish side finished ahead of Munster in the standings last season and a win this evening could be a huge early season boost to Munster’s chances in the competition. Van Graan wasn’t involved in the Province for the reverse fixture last year that Glasgow comfortably won 37-10.
However, he did oversee the game in Irish Independent Park earlier this year that Munster came out op top 21-10. Yet, with the likes of Stuart Hogg and Tommy Seymour at their disposal, van Graan is well aware of the threat that Glasgow carry.
“We played them in a return match in Cork back in February and got a positive result. Like I said before, (they have) a quality coach, a quality team and they have been together for a long time.”
