Munster head coach Johann van Graan provided an injury update today and says that JJ Hanrahan will be given every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s Champions Cup game with Racing 92.
Hanrahan picked up the hamstring problem in Munster’s 13-6 loss to Leinster at Thomond Park on December 28.
If he doesn’t recover sufficiently, Rory Scannell and Academy out half Ben Healy are set to deputise in the number 10 jersey.
“He did a bit of team training (today) and we will test him on Friday. If he comes through, he will play on the weekend.
“I won’t risk him unless the medical team say that he is 100% right. Hopefully he does and if he doesn’t, we are going to back Ben and Rory and make the decision on one of the two of them.
“We have backed our squad and we have been in this position before and we just back the next man in.”
Van Graan added that a final call will also be made on Andrew Conway’s fitness on Friday and that Mike Haley is likely to be fit for the game.
