John Ryan will be hoping to lead his side back to the senior ranks when they take on Mungret St Pauls in the PIHC final on Sunday.
Senior hurling is just 60 minutes away for one of Cappamore or Mungret St Pauls as they sides meet in the Premier Intermediate Hurling final on Sunday in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
“Looking forward to it now, it’s not too often you get to a county final, I think it was five years ago the last time we were there but we’re used to them as well, we’re used to these occasion.
“A new team now in Mungret who are up and coming, they’ve definitely been impressive the last few years so we know it’s going to be a big battle.
“We’re all performance driven, we don’t look at a result we just look if we can improve ourselves. We improved in that semi-final and hopefully we can improve again next weeks time.”
Cappamore will come into the game as huge outsiders against Mungret who reached last year’s final and have gone four from four in this year’s campaign. Included in those wins was one against Cappamore with the south side falling to a two point loss.
Cappamore are yet to beat the city side in the premier intermediate championship but Ryan is hoping to spoil the party when they do battle on Sunday as Cappamore aim to return to the senior ranks after three in the PIHC.
“They’re huge favourites, a lot of people will go into the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday and think it’ll be a Mungret win but hopefully we’ll be there to spoil the party”
“Were going in next Sunday as total outsiders, everyone’s expecting us to go home with our bags packed… we know that if we bring a performance we’ll be hopefully thinking of celebrations afterwards but at the moment we’re just thinking about ourselves, that’s all.”
