Cappamore’s William O’Connor is out of the PDC World Darts Championship after a 4-1 defeat to England’s Ryan Searle at Alexandra Palace tonight.
O’Connor, who was taking part in the tournament for the second year running, won the first set but then lost the next four to 61st in the world ranked Searle.
The Limerick native checked out on double nine, double 16 and double two to win the opening set 3-1 in comfortable fashion.
However, that was to be as good as it got for O’Connor as Searle took control to win the next set to square the game up.
O’Connor had a chance to win the third set but Searle held his nerve to hit the front, winning 3-2 in legs.
Seale then rattled off the next two sets in quick succession to book his place in the last 16 and send O’Connor out of the tournament.
