Young Munster’s hopes of staying in the top flight of the AIL’s Division 1A received a major boost after they beat Shannon 33-7 at Tom Clifford Park.
Gearoid Prendergast’s men ran in for five tries in the win which moved them up to sixth place with one game to play.
On the opposite side, Shannon are deep in relegation trouble heading into the final round of games.
Munsters were well on top early on were 14-0 ahead in the lead up to half time thanks to tries from Ger Slattery and Dan Walsh, both of which were converted by Shane Airey.
Shannon did respond late in the first half when Nathan Randles dived over for their try in the right corner. Ben Daly added the extras to cut the lead to seven at the break.

It was all the home side in the second half with tries from Walsh, Alan Kennedy and Derek Corcoran. Airey added two further conversions to earn the comprehensive win.
Following the game, Young Munster head coach, Gearoid Prendergast, spoke of his delight with the win.
