“We both know each other very well” | Castlemahon’s James Guinea anticipates tough final with local rivals Feenagh-Kilmeedy

Castlemahon have the chance to seal promotion back to the IFC for the first time since their relegation in 2018.

There’s a local derby on the cards in the Premier Junior A Football Championship as Castlemahon and Feenagh-Kilmeedy contest in the final this Sunday.

The finalists made up first and second in group two, with Castlemahon finishing top with four wins from five and boasting an impressive +41 point difference including 91 points scored in total.

In their previous encounter with this weekend’s opponents this season, Castlemahon came out on top with a final day win, sealing an automatic semi-final place in the process ahead of their final opponents.

The two teams that make up Belville Gaels are no strangers to each other and James Guinea is relishing the opportunity to play a “fantastic Feenagh-Kilmeedy team” in the final.

“A local rivalry is great and the bite leading up to it will be brilliant but look, they’re a fantastic team, they’ve great players and we all know we both know each other very well and we’re both all looking forward to it.”

And for Guinea and co, a county title and a place in the Intermediate Football Championship is on offer with Castlemahon aiming to get themselves back to the grade after a four year absence.
