Chris Hayes and Fozzy Stack were first off the mark at Dundalk on Wednesday evening where Bambari held on to land the 5f handicap. Sent off a 13/2 shot in the colours of Ricky Barnes, the six-year-old was in front before halfway and just lasted home to beat 11/2 chance Lapilli by a head. There was half a length back to the third-placed Hot Stuff, a 100/1 chance.
Mark Enright was also a Dundalk winner last week as he landed the 8f maiden on the Henry De Bromhead-trained Paris Duvet. In the colours of the trainer’s wife Heather, the three-year-old scored a two-length success at odds of 11/4 chance over the Joseph O’Brien-trained 2/1 favourite Annie B.
Billy Lee has the distinction of riding the final winner before Christmas as he partnered the Anthony McCann-trained Ragtime Red to win the night’s finale. The 7/1 shot got to the front inside the final furlong to win by three-parts of a length from 33/1 outsider Scotts Honor.
