Well Run Dry as Ballygunner Book Munster Club Final Spot

Patrickswell’s season came to an end in Walsh Park this afternoon as Ballygunner simply had too much and ran out 0-17 to 0-9 winners in their Munster Senior Club Hurling semi final.

It was a disappointing end for Ciarán Carey’s side while the Waterford champions will go on to play Borris Illeigh of Tipperary on November 24th in the Munster Club Final.

Ballygunner’s Dessie Hutchinson and Michale O’Mahony notched up nine points between them from play with man of the match Pauric O’Mahony accounting for five points.

The home side raced into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead inside the first 22 minutes of the game before Patrickswell finally sprung into life landing their first point from play. Carey’s team would go on to account for five of the next six points to reclaim the momentum and move back to within one point (0-7 to 0-6) at the break with Aaron Gillane and Diarmaid Byrnes amongst the scorers.

The break allowed Ballygunner to recompose themselves and they came out of the blocks like a rocket at the start of the second half with four points without reply.

Patrickswell replied through point from Aaron Gillane and Jack Kelleher points, but never got within touching distance of Ballygunner who knocked over several fine scores towards the end of the game to reassert their dominance.

They take on Tipperary’s Borris-Ileagh who beat Glen Rovers on a 1-17 to 3-8 scoreline at Semple Stadium.
