Crecora failed to make it out of the group stages in last year’s competition.
Crecora will look to get off to a bright start in the opening round of the Limerick SCC as they face newly-promoted Cappamore this Saturday.
The two sides have faced each other previously at Intermediate level but will be competing at the highest rank of Limerick camogie this year after Cappamore’s triumph in the intermediate championship last season.
After last year’s disappointing campaign for Crecora, they’ll be looking to make it out of their group at the very least this year and Lisa Barrett is looking forward to the start of the new season.
“Everybody’s training very hard, we’ve got good numbers now and lots of young players coming up too so all going well.
“We played Cappamore a lot at Intermediate as well, it’s always a tough game but we’re going to work hard and hopefully win.”
This year will see a championship unaffected by Covid-19 for the first time in three years and Barrett is delighted to see the return of the game.
“It’s absolutely unbelievable, you’d really miss it. Being at home and all you’re wishing is that you’re out on the pitch and even just the social side of it you’d really miss the girls and getting out to training and the buzz of the matches, it’s brilliant for it to be back.”
Crecora-Manister face Cappamore this Saturday in round one of the Neville Jewellers Senior Camogie Championship.
