Ahead of this weekend’s quarter finals, we present the fourth set of Limerick senior football power rankings.
The race for the Limerick Senior Football Championship title is down to six with the quarter finals to be played this weekend.
On Saturday, Na Piarsaigh and Fr Caseys do battle while Kildimo Pallaskenry and Monaleen face off the following afternoon.
Last year’s finalists, Newcastle West and Adare who also contested the 2021 showpiece game, await in the semi finals with a perfect record.
Also down for decision this weekend is the relegation final with Claughaun and Ballylanders seeking to prolong their stay in the top tier.
- Newcastle West (=)
- Adare (=)
- Monaleen (+1)
- Kildimo Pallaskenry (-1)
- Fr Caseys (=)
- Na Piarsaigh (+2)
- Ballysteen (-1)
- Oola (+2)
- Galtee Gaels (=)
- St Kierans (-3)
- Ballylanders (=)
- Claughaun (=)
Ahead of this weekend’s quarter finals, we present the fourth set of Limerick senior football power rankings.
12. Claughaun (=)
It’s been a season to forget for Cluaghaun with five heavy defeats so far. Aside from the huge clash with Oola, where they could have staved off relegation, they have been comfortable dispatched in all their outings to leave them on a -36 scoring difference. Have the chance to preserve senior status for the fourth year running on Saturday against Ballylanders.

11. Ballylanders (=)
Will feel they are unlucky to be in this position but for the second running year, the 2020 finalists are in the relegation final. Will rue slender defeats to Galtee Gaels and Monaleen in the first two rounds but can rectify that this weekend as they seek to retain their senior status.
10. Galtee Gaels (-1)
There hasn’t been much to write home about for Galtee Gaels since that first round win over Ballylanders with four successive losses in the meantime. They ended the group with the worst scoring difference at -25, worse than relegation finalists Ballylanders.
9. Oola (-1)
Secured safety with a round to spare before falling to Newcastle West by 14 points in their final game. That victory over Claughaun was the season defining victory but despite their lowly standings, they will feel aggrieved to have missed out on points against St Kierans in round one and Kildimo Pallaskenry the following week where they lost by a combined total of four points.
8. St Kierans (+1)
It’s been an underwhelming season for St Kierans who came into the championship as league champions. Injuries have hampered them as they lost three successive games following a round one win over Oola. Ensured safety with victory over Claughaun to conclude their season.

7. Ballysteen (=)
Back to back losses to round out their campaign saw them miss out on the quarter finals following a pair of wins put them in pole position to join Monaleen and Adare. But in the end, the round one defeat to Na Piarsaigh proved most costly.
6. Na Piarsaigh (=)
Did what they had to do to qualify for the quarter finals with successive wins to conclude the group stages. It has been a positive return to senior football for Na Piarsaigh who are preparing for a first quarter final.
Caseys will be favoured but it’s free hit for the Caherdavin men who have defied expectations this year.
5. Kildimo Pallaskenry (-1)
Drop one place but stay ahead of Na Piarsaigh having featured in the senior quarter finals this time last year. Have lost in each of their past two games but those did come against Fr Caseys and Newcastle West.
Will be up against it in their first meeting with Monaleen but with their hurlers eliminated from the SHC, it will be all hands on deck for the city outfit who have the capabilities of causing an upset.
4. Fr Caseys (+1)
There would have been apprehension in Abbeyfeale at the start of the season following the mass exodus from the club. A loss to Newcastle West kicked off their season but since they have been in great form, putting four wins back to back to seal a quarter finals berth.
Twelve months ago they ended a 13-year wait for a knockout stage win and you wouldn’t back against them making it successive quarter final victories.
3. Monaleen (=)
Perennial contenders, Monaleen have the chance to square up with Newcastle West in the semi-finals for the third year running should they come through Kildimo Pallaskenry. Previous results suggest they aren’t too far from the Magpies but they wont be looking past Kildimo Pallaskenry.
Still, Monaleen look a complete outfit and will fancy themselves to reach the last four with minimal fuss.
2. Adare (=)
Finished their campaign with five successive wins for the second year running, rarely looking troubled in the group stage. The return of Hugh Bourke has been a huge bonus for the West side who await the winners of Fr Caseys and Na Piarsaigh in a fortnight’s time.

1. Newcastle West (=)
The champions didn’t have to break a sweat in the group stages with five wins on the trot. They will know that tougher tests lay ahead but they remain the team to beat.
