Wins for Kilmallock and Monaleen cement their group places, while Liberties continue to struggle | Friday Round Up

There were six games on Friday evening, three Senior and three Junior A, which served up an amazing 24 goals between them!

Friday evening saw Kilmallock, Monaleen and Ballybrown all pick up wins in the Senior Hurling Championship, with South Liberties and Garryspillane shipping heavy defeats.

Kyle Hayes’ Kildimo Pallaskenry ended up losing out to Kilmallock by seven points, the Balbec proving too strong for a finish in Newcastle West.

An early Shane O’Brien goal meant that Kilmallock were in control for majority of the game, although KP showed tremendous heart to remain in the game until the latter stages.

Monaleen managed to pick up a 12 point victory in group two, and they sit third in the group, behind Mungret and Ballybrown.

The All-Ireland Intermediate club champions were in control for majority of the clash, despite two early Garryspillane goals, and they held a six point lead at the interval.

Monaleen tagged on two goals of their own in the second half to send themselves clear in Caherconlish.

In the other game in group two, Ballybrown picked up a huge win over South Liberties, running out thirteen point winners.

It is now three games and three losses for Liberties, who are rooted to the bottom of group two.

Elsewhere, in the Junior A championship St Patrick’s, Mungret St Paul’s and Doon all picked up commanding wins.
