Young Limerick athletes selected to compete in Finland

Limerick athletes to compete in Finland.

Three of Limerick’s best young athletes have been included in the European Athletics Team Championships First League in the Finnish university town of Vaasa that will take place from June 23rd to the 25th.

Two Emerald AC athletes have been selected. Ciara Neville in the 4x100m replay team, and Jenna Bromell in the 4x400m relay team for the championships in two weeks.

Sarah Lavin, who hails from Limerick but is now with UCD AC, has been selected to represent Ireland in the 100m hurdles as well as being named as part of the 4x100m relay squad with Jenna. All three Limerick athletes are coached by Noelle Morrissey.

High Performance Director Paul McNamara said that:

“Youth is a strong characteristic of this year’s squad, with a significant number of Junior’s and U23’s earning their selection across the spectrum of events.”

Of the twelve countries competing the Championships, the top three will gain promotion to the European Team Championships Super League which will take place in 2019.

It’s a fantastic achievement and best of luck to the three Limerick athletes and the team.
