Young Munster hand leaders Terenure College first defeat with a number of games postponed | AIL Round-Up

In total, 15 of the Energia All-Ireland Men’s League were postponed due to the cold weather conditions throughout the weekend.

A disrupted weekend of All-Ireland League action still found a way to produce another twist in the title race as Young Munster got the better of leaders Terenure College, the first side to do so this season.

In Division 1A, Young Munster staged a dramatic second half recovery to defeat leaders Terenure College 24-18 in foggy conditions. Trailing 12-3 at half time at Tom Clifford Park, Dan Walsh, Paulo Leleisiuao, and Shay McCarthy all notched second half tries with Evan Cusack converting all three tries, whilst also kicking a penalty. The result leaves Young Munster just a point outside the play off places at the half way stage.

Clontarf subsequently closed the margin on leaders Terenure College to three points, with a bonus point 36-10 win over bottom side Garryowen at Castle Avenue. The hosts led 12-10 at half time. Johnny Keane scored a try for Garryowen, and Jack Delaney converted and also added a penalty. The Limerick side remain on the hunt for their first win this season.

Shannon saw their game against Lansdowne postponed.

In a rip-roaring clash at Musgrave Park, Old Crescent defeated Dolphin 31-28 in a Division 2A clash, which saw the lead change hands on six occasions. Dolphin who led 14-7 at half time had tries from Cameron O’Shaughnessy, Dave O’Mahony, and Eamon Mills (2). Tomas Quinlan kicked all four conversions. Ronan McKenna scored two tries and three conversions. Cathal O’Reilly, and Jason Aylward also scored tries with their fifth try coming from a drive by their pack.

UL Bohemians 2A game against MU Barnhall postponed.

Meanwhile, Bruff’s game in Division 2C against Midleton was also postponed.

The weekend’s fixtures were the last scheduled for 2022, with the action returning on the 14th of January next year.
