Garryowen’s All Ireland League season came to an end on Saturday as they lost out 36-19 in their Division 1A semi-final at the hands of Lansdowne at the Aviva Stadium.
Conan Doyle’s side were just two points behind their hosts at half time as they went into the break at 8-6, the light blues points coming from the boot captain Neil Cronin.
After the interval Alan Bennie went over for the hosts, the try was converted to make it 15-6, however Cronin added two more penalties to bring Garryowen to within two points again.
Lansdowne took control from the 56th minute on, as they followed up a penalty try with another from Tyrone Moran to extend their advantage to fourteen.
Liam Cronin did hit back for the visitors, however it was too little too late as the Dublin side powered into the 1A decider.
We came up short today, beaten by a better side from @LansdowneFC, thank you to all the players and coaches for an excellent season, very proud of ye. #GiG #pride

On Sunday Richmond’s hopes of a fifth Munster Junior Cup title were dashed by now nineteen time winners Cork Constitution.
Like Garryowen, Tadhg Bennett’s side were well in the game at the half, as they trailed 8-3 with the points coming from player/head coach, Bennett.
Con went over after the restart before an unconverted Kieran Bennett try brought Richmond to within seven points at 15-8.
The Cork side added two penalties to stretch their lead to 21-8 before a late Richmond score saw the game finish 21-15.
All over here. It just wasn't to be our day 21-15 to Cons at the end..
