Conor Power’s first half goal had Na Piarsaigh in the back foot but despite trailing by 4 points at one stage, they rallied to cut the deficit to just a solitary point heading into the break.

A defensive lapse from Ballygunner allowed David Breen in for a fine goal to level proceedings early in the second half.

However the Waterford side responded with under three minutes remaining to cut the deficit to just one point as Peter Hogan found the back of the net following some defensive uncertainty from the Limerick champions.

However, like true champions, Na Piarsaigh responded immediately with their second goal to restore a 4 point cushion and dispel any hopes of a Ballygunner revival. David Breen added his second goal and Na Piarsaigh’s third in the dying seconds of the game to extend the final margin of victory to 8 points on a scoreline of 3-15 to 2-10.

The final whistle meant Na Piarsaigh’s fourth Munster Senior Club Championship title since 2011 and also maintains their impeccable record of never having lost a game in the Munster Club Championship.

One cannot argue that the Limerick county champions were not tested by Ballygunner yesterday but true to form and in keeping with the quality contained throughout the side, Na Piarsaigh proved they had both the mental strength and skill to respond when necessary. Post match reaction below from TG4’s man of the match Adrian Breen.
