WATCH: “The girls are stepping up to the mark”- Fiona Hickey in high spirits ahead of Kilkenny tie

Fiona Hickey in high spirits ahead of Kilkenny tie.

Limerick get their 2018 Liberty Insurance Senior Camogie Championship campaign off to a start on Saturday evening against one of the outright favourites Kilkenny in Bruff.

Despite Limerick picking up a maiden competitive victory over the Cats in the League, Limerick will enter the game as underdogs. However, Limerick star Fiona Hickey says the side will take confidence from the victory.

“We didn’t read to much into it at the same time, we were all focused on what will happen in the summer but it was a huge lift.”

Hickey also commented on the huge amount of talent coming through the ranks in Limerick camogie, highlighting how the All-Ireland winning minor team has integrated itself into the squad over the past couple of years.

“They’re (All-Ireland winning minor side) coming through now…They’re leading and that’s what we need is more leaders and the girls are stepping up to the mark.”

Limerick v Kilkenny has a 5pm throw in Bruff this Saturday.
