Increased attendance confirmed for Limerick’s Munster Hurling Final showdown with Tipperary

It has been confirmed that 7,000 people will be permitted to attend next Sunday’s Munster Senior Hurling Final between Limerick and Tipperary in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Minister Jack Chambers confirmed the news on his Twitter account on Thursday evening.

2,400 attended Limerick’s semi-final win over Cork in Thurles while there was 3,000 at the LIT Gaelic Grounds for Tipperary’s defeat of Clare.

Attendance figures are slowly rising week on week with 3,500 expected at the Ennis Road for this Saturday’s Munster Football semi-final between Limerick and Cork.

However, the figure for the Munster final is well below that in comparison to the Leinster final where 18,000 will be permitted to attend the clash of Kilkenny and Dublin in Croke Park or the Leinster football semi-final double header in the same venue the following day which will have a similar number of spectators.

In Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Limerick will be aiming for a three-in-a-row of Munster titles, last achieved by Tipperary in 1989.

Last year the sides met in the same venue behind closed doors with Limerick taking a 3-23 to 2-17 win.
