Munster Squad update ahead of Champions Cup clash with Leicester

There is only one new major injury concern for Van Graan as he starts his first week of Champions Cup preparation

After Johan Van Graan’s first home game in charge, a bonus point victory over the Ospreys, Munster have today released a squad update ahead of their clash with Leicester Tigers this Saturday.

Simon Zebo was taken off as a precautionary measure in Saturday’s win and should be ok to train with the squad this week.

Liam O’Connor, who had to be stretchered off the field, will undergo further test’s this week to asses the extent of the knee injury he picked up.

Try scorer Jack O’Donoghue took a knock to his shoulder and will be assessed by the medical team this week but is expected to train.

Tommy O’Donnell is expected to train fully this week, whilst Duncan Williams showed no ill effects to his shoulder injury after returning to action on Saturday evening.

Ronan O’Mahony (fibula) is progressing well and continuing with his on-field rehab.

Continuing to rehab: Tyler Bleyendaal (neck), Gerbrandt Grobler (ankle), Conor Oliver (shoulder), Dan Goggin (knee), Dave O’Callaghan (knee), Jaco Taute (knee), Niall Scannell (thumb), Keith Earls (hamstring), James Cronin (calf), Chris Farrell (knee).

A total of eleven Munster players were in action for their clubs in the AIL at the weekend.

Mike Sherry, Bill and Dave Johnston and Liam Coombes were all involved in Garryowen’s 24-17 win over Cork Constitution on Saturday.

Daniel Hurley started on the wing for Young Munster in their defeat to Terenure whilst academy full back Jack Power started in Clontarf’s win over DUFC.

Ciaran Parker and John Foley started for Shannon in their Division 1B loss to Ballynahinch.

Jack O’Sullivan started in the back row for UCC in their win over UL Bohs, with Joey Conway in the front row for the losing side.

Liam O’Connor, Sean O’Connor and Calvin Nash were involved in Munster Pro 14 win over the Ospreys.

Alex McHenry featured for the Ireland Men’s sevens side that competed in the Dubai 7’s last week.
