Munster coach Aled Walters set to leave to Province in March

The strength and conditioning coach joined Munster in 2012

Munster Rugby have confirmed that Head of Athletic Performance Aled Walters will depart the province in March.

Walters, who has worked across the Munster Rugby strength and conditioning department since 2012, is leaving the province to take charge of a national team’s strength and conditioning programme.

With the squad informed of the departure in December, Team Manager Niall O’Donovan said;

“Aled has been an integral member of this backroom team for the past number of seasons, and oversees a great S&C department here within the High Performance Centre where our programmes and processes are well established.  We thank Aled for his contribution on and off the field, wishing him all the best with the next chapter.”

It has been reported that the Welsh native will be taking up a role with the South African Rugby Union under the guidance of former Munster director of rugby Rassie Erasmus. Erasmus and defence coach Jacques Nienaber departed the province in November.
