WATCH: Clare’s Jason McCarthy out to right the wrongs of last year’s U21 loss to Limerick

Ennis hosts a rematch of last years Munster U21 semi final between Limerick and Clare this bank holiday with a place in the semi final up for grabs this time. Limerick had a comfortable win last year and Clare captain Jason McCarthy is keen to avenge that loss.

“From last year, we know each other very well and lads playing with each other in college, these teams know each other inside out.

But definitely, when the county colours come on, no one will be holding back.”

“Last year we didn’t do ourselves justice we feel. Limerick beat us by 13 points but this year we have them in the park, so we will be backing ourselves and try to right the wrongs of last year.”

Both sides will have plenty of new players this year and McCarthy has spoke about the desire in the squad to improve on last years performance. Home advantage could be crucial for Clare as they look to reach a first Munster final since 2015 where they were beaten by Limerick. In a straight knockout competition, it is win or go home for both sides on Monday.

“There’s no second chances which is good, you have to really concentrate on the one game as you go. So, we’re definitely just looking at the Limerick game and hoping we can turn them over in the Park.”

“This year is a fairly new team, we’ve been gelling well over the last few weeks and months and we feel we can put in a good performance on Monday and see where it takes us.”
