WATCH – Sammy Arnold on stepping up to the mark for Munster this season

Centre Sammy Arnold has exceeded expectations this season when called upon to fill a void in the Munster midfield.

The 22-year-old has gone from playing in the AIL to starting in the Champions Cup knock-out stages in just a matter of months. Arnold says he’s tried to embrace the challenge rather than shy away from the pressure.

“You always wonder if you see someone else doing it can you do it? You want to be the guy to step out there and run out on the pitch and play in those big games. It was something I tried to embrace and I enjoyed the pressure of it as well. When you play in those big games there’s no better experience, you step up to the mark and try to bring the best out of yourself.”

Arnold will hope to wear the 13 jersey yet again this Saturday when Edinburgh come to town for a semi-final qualifier tie.

“They’re probably the form team in the Pro 14 at the minute. They’ve got a very good coach in Richard Cockerill he’s brought them on leaps and bounds this season.”
