Second half goals the key as Limerick reach Munster U21 hurling championship semi final

Limerick have secured passage to the Munster U21 championship semi finals after a comprehensive 3-18 to 0-13 win over Clare in Ennis this evening.

Limerick started much the brighter but were guilty of missing some guilt edge chances in front of goal. They were ahead by as much as seven in the first period but four unanswered scores by Clare late in the half saw the deficit reduced to two with the half time score reading 0-10 to 0-8 in Limerick’s favour.

Clare were reduced to 14 men early in the second half after a wild stroke on Darren O’Connell from Conor O’Halloran. It wasn’t until the 15th minute of the half that Limerick began to pull away with Seamus Flanagan netting their first goal to give Limerick a 1-14 to 0-12 lead.

Conor Boylan and substitute Mark O’Dwyer both found the net in the closing 10 minutes to confirm the victory for an impressive Limerick side. Next up is Tipperary in the Munster Semi Final.
