WATCH: Limerick’s David Reidy says “Its been a long road getting there”

Galway are one win away from emulating the Galway side of 1987 and 1988 that won back to back All Ireland titles. They will come up against a young and determined Limerick side who are hoping to bring Liam McCarthy back to Limerick for the first time since 1973. One of the squad David Reidy has spoken about the respect this side have for Galway.

“You have to have great respect for the Galway lads, What they did last year was brilliant. They are going for back to back All Irelands so we’ve massive respect for them. They’ve some incredibly hurlers and have had throughout the years.”

Yet, you can be in no doubt that Reidy and co will be determined to get one over Galway and outlines how hard his team have worked to get into the position they now find themselves in. He is well aware that nothing is won easily in Croke Park but is quietly confident that Limerick can bridge the gap to once more be crowned All Ireland champions.

“Its been a long road getting there. Since we went back, the boxing fundraiser in November and since then it’s been all hands on deck trying to get here and luckily enough we’re here, but we’ve nothing won yet.”
