Quaid steps down as Kildare hurling manager after three years

Former Limerick hurler Joe Quaid has left his job as manager of Kildare after three years in charge the Lilywhites county board have confirmed.

Quaid has enjoyed a successful period at the helm of the Kildare hurlers that culminated with them winning the Christy Ring Cup this season.

A brief statement from Kildare GAA confirmed the news this afternoon.  “Joe and his management team have put in tremendous work and commitment over the last 3 years and won the Christy Ring Cup this year.

“We sincerely thank him for all that he brought to Kildare GAA during his time and wish him all the best for the future.”

The two time All-Star has been heavily linked to the vacant manager’s job with the Westmeath senior hurlers and is believed to have already interviewed for the role.

Quaid previously led the Limerick Camogie and the Limerick U-16 hurlers to All-Ireland titles before he took over in Kildare. Two other Limerick men, Mike Flynn (Na Piarsaigh) and Willie Banks (Old Christians) were part of his backroom team in Kildare.
