WATCH: Simon Zebo goes back to his hurling roots

Zebo returns to his Hurling roots.

We all know Simon Zebo as the Munster and Ireland Rugby player. But did many of us know that Zebo was once a keen Hurler back in his youth?

In the video which is a promotional video for Bord Gais Energy’s #HURLINGTOTHECORE campaign, Zebo goes back his former hurling club Blackrock in Cork.

Zebo discusses his time at the club where his love of the sport grew up until age of 16 where he had to make the decision between Rugby or Hurling.

As we know Zebo chose Rugby, and with over 33 caps for Ireland and 119 caps for Munster along with being the clubs highest try scorer, we think that he made the right choice.

The GAA and Hurling as we know are have a few similarities and we’re sure Zebo could see the difference when he was playing both sports.

The skills of power and pace and transferrable while hand eye coordination are also vital to both codes. One only has to look at Zebo and Darren Sweetnam to see that hurlers make exciting rugby players.
