WATCH: Conor Murray looking to halt Castres momentum in France

Akin to the Munster sides in the first decade of the 2000’s who’s gameplam relied heavily on a dominant set-piece, Munster destroyed Castres at scrum time in Thomond last Sunday.

For a returning Conor Murray, this domination was the ideal platform to dictate the Munster backline who ran in three tries but in reality could have had much more.

Murray said;

“Its easier to make those reads when the pack is dominant. Its part of our game, the trust the coaches have in us to make reads like that.

Munster travel to Castres fully aware that they will face a different side that they clashed with in Thomond Park.

The reigning Top 14 champions lie in third place in the pool and another loss could signal the end of their European campaign.

With the French crowd behind them, Murray knows there is a different team awaiting them in the Stade Pierre Fabre and is focusing on a good start to negate the atmosphere.

“Especially in France if you give a team the upper hand early days, their crowd do get into it, they get that French offloading, momentum game going.”
