Limerick to face Dublin in Nowlan Park in League Semi-Final

Limerick will face Dublin in the National League Semi-Final in Nowlan Park Sunday it was confirmed last night.

It will form part of a double header that will also feature Galway against Waterford in the other last four tie.

The game has a 1.30pm throw in time with the second tie down for 3.30pm.

Limerick would have been guaranteed home advantage had Tipperary overturned Dublin on Saturday.

Dublin were impressive in their victory over the Premier County with the side making great strides under Mattie Kenny in 2019.

They finished third in Division 1B behind Waterford and Galway.

Limerick, the only Division 1A team left will come into the game as favourites after topping their group and having 17-points to spare against Laois in the quarter finals.

Nowlan Park will hold fond memories for Limerick after their comprehensive 2-18 to 0-15 victory over Cody’s men on February 17.

However, John Kiely will be wary of the threat this Dublin side possess and will be keen to continue to lay down a marker as All-Ireland champions.

Limerick have been impressive on route to the semi-finals and will be looking to go one step further than last year when they were defeated by Tipp at the same stage.

Indeed, this will be Limerick’s fourth successive year in the semi-finals but are yet the reach the final since 2006 when they were defeated by Kilkenny.

Limerick last triumphed in the League in 1997 when they beat Galway in the final.

Limerick’s opening Munster Championship game is against Cork on May 19 in the Gaelic Grounds.
