LISTEN: John Ryan speaks ahead of crucial Leitrim clash

The Limerick Ladies footballers play Leitrim this Sunday in Askeaton knowing a victory over the Connacht side will see them into the semi-finals of Division 4.

For manager John Ryan, the connotations are simple as he looks to go one better than last year where Limerick were defeated in the League semi-finals.

“It’s realistically a quarter-final. You win, you’re in. If you lose you could be out.”

Limerick are currently on twelve points along with Louth, Fermanagh and Carlow with the latter pair having played a game less.

Leitrim are in sixth place on six points but Ryan isn’t taking anything for granted in what has been a very even and competitive league thus far.

“This year’s National League is a lot more competitive than last years one. A lot more even, some shock results and every team is fighting to get into the play-offs.”
