Bruff hold top spot after Round 3 of Premier IHC

Bruff and Kildimo-Pallaskenry top the Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship after the third round of action was completed on Saturday night.

Both clubs sit on five points after the three games following two wins and a draw each. Bruff top the table due to a superior scoring difference.

Dan Maloney’s side got their second win of the campaign after seeing off Pallasgreen on a 2-18 to 1-12 scoreline in Hospital on Thursday.

Anchored by county stars Paul Browne and Sean Finn, Bruff raced into a 2-4 to 0-0 lead in under 10 minutes thanks to goals from Shane Bulfin and John Cooke.

Christian O’Dwyer netted a late goal for Pallas but they were well off the pace and have just one point from their three games to date.

Elsewhere, Kildimo-Pallaskenry looked to be making it three wins on the bounce only to be pegged back by Blackrock in Kilmallock.

Kildimo-Pallaskenry were well in control heading into the final stages but five points in a row from Blackrock saw them take a share of the spoils. Blackrock have two points after drawing two of their three games.

The final game on Thursday evening saw Dromin-Athlacca beat Mungret St Pauls by 0-19 to 0-16 in Mick Neville Park. It was Mungret’s first defeat of the season after wins from their opening two outings.

Dromin-Athlacca lead by a point at half time and there was the bare minimum still between the sides late on but it was ultimately Mark Moynihan’s side that pulled away to win by three points.

In the final game of the PIHC on Saturday night, Bruree cruised to a 4-15 to 0-11 win over Cappamore in Bruff.

Goals from Kieran O’Dea, Michael Lane, Sam Cronolly and a second for Michael Lane saw Bruree home.

They now have three points from their three games following a win, draw and loss.

Cappamore sit at the bottom of the table after losing all three of their matches to date. The competition is set to resume in August.
