Positive news for Munster as Beirne commits to new deal

After what has been a turbulent week that has seen Munster announce the departures of Jerry Flannery and Felix Jones, there was a positive update today with the news that Tadhg Beirne has signed a two-year deal.

Beirne is in the first year of the initial deal with Munster but has opted to extend his stay at the province until June 2022 at the least.

The former Leinster and Scarlets second row has been immense in his debut season at Munster and has won five man of the match awards throughout the campaign.

Elsewhere, highly rated scrum half Craig Casey has also committed his future to Munster. Casey was recently awarded the Munster Academy Player of the Year award.

He has signed a development contract that begins at the start of next season and will then move to a full time contract at the start of the 2020/21 season.

This puts an end to rumours surrounding his immediate future after Leinster made a move to sign him in recent weeks.
