FAI Junior Cup final postponed as Aisling Annacotty submit objection

The final of the New Balance FAI Junior Cup which was due to take place on Saturday, May 11th at the Aviva Stadium has been postponed.

Limerick District League club Aisling Annacotty have lodged two appeals following their 1-0 defeat to Sheriff YC last Sunday in the semi-final of the competition.

St. Michaels and Sheriff YC were due to meet in the final in two days time at 5pm and the official press launch had already taken place when news filtered through on Thursday afternoon about Aisling Annacotty’s appeal.

The grounds for the objection are unknown as of yet although in order for a hearing to take place, the final had to be postponed due to the late notice.

A statement on the Official FAI website confirmed the news.

The final, which was due to take place on Saturday, May 11 between St. Michael’s A.F.C. and Sheriff YC, has been postponed on the decision of the FAI Junior Council Key Committee.

Aisling Annacotty have lodged a formal protest against Sheriff YC, following their semi-final defeat on Sunday, May 5.

A date for a hearing has not been set as of yet.
